Pre 1934 Racquets

The beginnings of what we think of as modern tennis can be traced to the 1880's, first in Britain and shortly after in America. Some of the more colorful characters from the start of last century, notably Suzanne Lenglen and Bill Tilden, have signature or photo decal racquets which can still be found today.

The early racquets had uniquely different shaped heads, grips, stringing patterns and wedges. Often times, the racquet was constructed start to finish by one person.
